Description INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGIST FACULTY POSITION IU HEALTH BALL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL MUNCIE, INDIANA COMPETITIVE SIGNING BONUS UP TO 100,000 The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, in partnership with Indiana University Health, invites applications for a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist to join our long-established IR practice at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. This is an opportunity to practice the full breadth of image-guided intervention—from straightforward biopsies and drainages to high-level vascular and interventional oncology work—in a community hospital setting, with the resources, colleagues, and academic support of one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers. The position includes a clinical track appointment at an academic rank commensurate with experience. The Practice Join a historically strong interventional radiology practice at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, the tertiary referral center for East Central Indiana, with a well-developed referral base and a reputation built over decades. Practice is a unique opportunity for a physician with strong interest in peripheral arterial disease management. The IR physicians are the near-exclusive provider of PAD care in the region, with a particularly busy CLI practice. Other areas of strength include a busy VTE practice including acute DVT/PE, as well as chronic venous disease treatment. Robust arterial embolization practice supporting a Level 3 trauma program, as well as busy OB/GYN and GI practices. Interventional Oncology including a high volume of renal, liver, lung tumor ablation and embolization. Other practice areas include hepatobiliary interventions, dialysis access management, image-guided biopsies, drainages, and venous access. Diagnostic interpretation is part of the role on lighter procedural days, but there is no formal daily case or RVU quota Practice with the backing of one of the largest academic IR divisions in the Midwest, with 22 interventional radiologists across the IU Health system available for consultation, coverage, and complex-case referral. Autonomy of a community practice with academic infrastructure behind it: subspecialty second opinions, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and research support through the Medical Imaging Research Institute (MIRI) if desired, though research is entirely optional. Why IU? Be a part of the largest medical school in the nation. New medical school campus and research buildings opened in downtown Indianapolis in 2025. New consolidated Academic Health Center, including hospital and outpatient facilities, opening in 2027. Our department ranked 1st among Big Ten schools and 13th nationally in overall NIH funding by the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research in 2024. Benefit from a strong dual-employment partnership between IU School of Medicine and IU Health, which provides access to the latest research, training, clinical care, and educational opportunities Compensation & Benefits Total compensation (salary + benefits + call) estimated at $670,000 and above for assistant professor and above, with ample opportunities for supplemental income. Sign-on bonus of up to $100,000 for this position. Comprehensive benefits package through Indiana University, one of the state’s largest employers. Dual-employment offers unique investment opportunities (401(k) plus 457(b) and 403(b), dual Roth contributions, HSA rollover). Tuition benefit for dependent students attending Indiana University. Relocation assistance and dual-career support. Live in Muncie — or the Indianapolis Northeast Suburbs Muncie is a Big Ten–adjacent college town, home to Ball State University, offering low cost of living, short commutes, and an easy pace of life. However, many of our physicians at Ball Memorial choose to live in the northeast suburbs of Indianapolis—Fishers, Noblesville, Carmel, and the Geist area—where the drive to Muncie is comparable to a downtown Indianapolis commute. These communities are frequently ranked among the best places to live nationally and combine top-rated public and private schools, affordable housing, and cultural amenities with a strong life sciences economy.
