Job highlights

Original employer description

Who we are: Advanced Radiology Services is one of the largest 100% physician-owned and managed practices in the country. Our team includes 175 radiologists, 30 advanced practice providers, and more than 175 employees providing administrative support in our wholly-owned subsidiary STARS. ARS provides services to 5 healthcare systems and more than 60 different sites across the state of Michigan. We are a member of Strategic Radiology and committed to remaining independent while providing the highest level of care to our patients. We value diversity on our team and promote a culture of inclusion. Why is our practice unique? We strive to offer the best of both worlds: private practice flexibility and compensation with academic options. In affiliation with the Michigan State University College of Medicine, our radiologists have opportunities to teach and mentor residents and pursue research if desired. Due to the size and breadth of the healthcare systems we support, diagnostic volume and variety of clinical exposure is unrivaled. We find that entrepreneurial-minded physicians who value involvement in decision-making and developing our business strategy fit well. We have outstanding IT infrastructure and 24/7 help desk support and utilize Intelerad PACS, PowerScribe 360, and Clario. Compensation/Benefits/Vacation/Schedule: We offer a highly competitive compensation package, $50k recruitment incentive/sign-on bonus ($100k for on-site breast), and opportunities for additional shifts on a month-to-month basis, strong vacation time (13 weeks), and benefits package ($135K value). Physicians have no out-of-pocket expense for medical/dental/vision coverage and enjoy an $18,000 medical reimbursement account annually. We also contribute the maximum amount allowed to the 401K plan ($72,000 in 2026). We are continually striving to improve the compensation/work/life balance for our physicians. Our “standard schedule” includes 39 weeks of work, 11 weekends and 13 weeks of vacation. We also offer “alternate track” positions which are 7 days on and 7 or 14 days off. We also offer weekday-only and part-time shareholder track options such as a .75 or .5 status. Interventional Radiology: The board recently approved a significant schedule/compensation improvement for IR shareholders effective 1/1/26. Once you become a shareholder (one or two-year track depending on experience level), you will enjoy a base compensation model for 130 weekday shifts/ year in comparison to the 211 required shifts/year in our standard schedule. You will earn additional compensation for your weekend (11) and call shifts (2-3 per month). This calculates to ~ $115K on top of the existing base salary and incentive programs. Furthermore, there are opportunities to work additional shifts at per diem rates as desired. Why do you want to work remotely for us? Although we are based in Michigan, we have a well-established teleradiology practice. We had remote physicians prior to COVID and currently have physicians working in 18 states. We utilize Intelerad PACS, PowerScribe 360 and Clario; we have outstanding IT infrastructure and 24/7 help desk support. Our remote radiologists are encouraged to participate in virtual section, committee, and board meetings and their input is essential to our practice decisions. You will have outstanding colleagues working virtually by your side as we have dedicated body, cardiothoracic, ER, neuro, pediatric, musculoskeletal, and ultrasound readers on first and second shifts and body, ER, neuro, and pediatric readers on third shift. Why do you want to live in Michigan? Grand Rapids, Michigan, was recently named the #1 city on LinkedIn’s inaugural “Cities on the Rise” list (July 2025)! The report highlights the city’s growing tech scene, strong insurance industry, and expanding hubs in healthcare and advanced manufacturing. The region’s affordable cost of living, proximity to Lake Michigan, reputation as “Beer City, USA” and bustling downtown continue to draw a growing community of young professionals. Grand Rapids is Michigan’s second largest city and less than a 60 minute drive to Lake Michigan beach towns such as Holland, Grand Haven, and Saugatuck. Professional sports teams include the Whitecaps, the Griffins, the Gold and the Rise (baseball, hockey, basketball and volleyball). A new 12,000-seat outdoor performing arts center, Acrisure Amphitheater, set to open in mid-2026, and a new professional soccer venue, Amway Stadium, opening in 2027, will add to the appeal of the downtown. Local hotspots reflect a vibrant cultural scene that makes the Grand Rapids area a fantastic place to live, work, and play. Grand Rapids is a wonderful place to raise a family offering award winning schools, walkable neighborhoods, and an abundance of opportunities for kids to engage in culture, art and nature. There are several museums, the ever-expanding John Ball Zoo and the world-renowned Frederick Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park for families to enjoy. We have many radiologists living in greater Grand Rapids but also metro Detroit and smaller cities such as Kalamazoo, Saginaw, and Lansing. Largely due to its college-town influence, Kalamazoo has a vibrant and progressive downtown with great eateries, eclectic shops, and a nationally known craft beer industry. It is home to Bells, the largest and longest operating Michigan based brewery. With a rich and diverse community culture, Kalamazoo offers historic neighborhoods, outstanding museums and theatres, and many gorgeous lakes. If you prefer the beach, Holland, St. Joseph, and Ludington are located on the Lake Michigan shoreline and considered some of Michigan’s most popular vacation destinations.
